Day 15: The McGinty Clan!

Hello family, friends and readers!

Mondays! Most consider Mondays sub-par, Sunday’s lesser sister. Praise God that was not the case for me.

This Monday was particularly enjoyable! I got to spend the morning with the McGinty family, from Connect church. I was helping to watch Patrick and Ellen’s children, Rowan, Jasper and Kai. Today was a Japanese National Holiday so Ellen invited me over to help watch her kids on their day off. I love seeing different living spaces in Japan. They had a tatami mat room in their home. The boys and I started our adventures there, building heroes and monsters out of lego. I also got to talk with Ellen, WHO IS AN AUTHOR!! Absolutely amazing!

Their story of following Christ is amazing as well! They came from Texas and sold their home, cars, everything to follow the call that God had for them to serve in Japan. Then God called them to adopt! And Kai entered their life. It’s really a blessing to see how God is working in their life and even through the struggles they are faithful to God for provision.

The boys and I bonded over pokemon, drawing and lego. The three boys were definitely a handful! But it was really fun to spend time with them. I love how much personality they each have. And kids sure are smart these days… Jasper figured out how to turn my phone on!

I haven’t played with such energetic kids in a while! I forgot how 元気 (healthy, energetic) they are!

Ellen walked me back to the station after Patrick came home and we got to talk about her books and the conditions for women in Japan and how it hasn’t changed much in the recent decades. There is definitely room for improvement in each society, but I am very moved by Ellen’s passion for the cause. I pray that her next book will be successful and reach many that need to hear the story.

I stopped at a takoyaki shop before heading home. I have been waiting for the right time and physical state of hunger to eat these! It is a Ngo family favourite. My only regret is that I did not have enough stomachs with me to order more flavours.

I must have been very tired because I slept like a log once I got home. Kids sure are something else!

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.’”
Ephesians 4:1-3

Prayer points:

  1. Pray for the McGinty Family as they continue to follow God’s plans, pray that they are protected and that their future plans in Japan go smoothly and are in line with God’s will. Pray that their children grow in the faith and be healthy and 元気!
  2. Pray for my spiritual, physical and mental health as I serve God in Japan. Pray for focus and rest.
