Hello family, friends and readers!
Today I went to the connect church for the first time! This will be the church I will be serving with during my time in Japan. I invite that you pray for us for God to guide us and give us wisdom.
Before attending church in the late afternoon, I spent the morning figuring out how to do the laundry. I was missing a key item from my room (the rod to hang my clothes!) I sent the manager a quick email and illustration to describe my troubles. He was quick to answer and bring up the rod! Praise God! I was able to do my laundry.
That in itself was an adventure, I forgot where the laundry room was, so I spent the morning (around 6 am) walking quietly around the sharehouse on the first floor trying to find the laundry room. I seem to have opened doors that I should not have. I opened the smoking room and someone was in there! I asked them where the laundry room was; he looked just as frazzled as I was with our language barrier, but we seemed to be able to communicate enough! Laundry was done successfully.
I am still adjusting to the time, I’ve found myself waking up around 4-7 am in the morning. I feel as though my days are very long because of my early mornings. I quite enjoy it.
After hanging my laundry, I went out for lunch at a bakery. I did some work there before prepping to go to church.
The church is very intimate. I joined the worship team and jumped on the cajon (I’ve never played it before, but it was so much fun). I love how familiar songs sound in Japanese. It is so much fun worshiping in another language! What a great gift of music from God we had this Saturday.
I got to share to the church my journey with God during this season of life and why God has led me to Japan. I was a bit nervous, but I felt very welcomed!
Patrick preached on wisdom from Proverbs 2. I am so impressed at the level of Japanese that God equips for long term missionaries. We were all reminded of how important and valuable wisdom is, and that man’s wisdom cannot compare to God’s wisdom, which is good, true and right.
After church and clean up, some of us went to a Curry Restaurant on the first floor of the church building (Connect Church is located on the Second Floor). I got the super, super spicy pork masala. IT WAS SO SPICY. But really made me remember home #SurreyGirl.
It was a great time of fellowship with the connect church members.
“My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you… Then you will understand what is right and just and fair – every good path. For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.”
Proverbs 2:1, 9-10
Prayer points:
1. Pray for protection and strength physically, mentally and spiritually.
2. Pray for creative inspiration for the projects that I will be handling.
3. Pray for the leaders of the church to receive God’s wisdom and guidance to better reach the Japanese to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
